And there are so many stars that I feel as if they're shining just for me.
But I remember that if such a thing were true,
I would only see supernovas.
Hoorah! Yeah, and unrealisticly colourful skies are a lot of fun to make XDInitial sketch was done with pencil and paper, and then I scanned it and coloured it on Photoshop CS3 (It kept crashing! Noo! Haha, that's okay. I got used to saving every few minutes 
)

I don't know why you don't like this! Then again, I'm kind of biased because I love detailed starry backgrounds.
I have to say though, the character is drawn well, but it doesn't look consistent with the technique of the background. In addition, I've noticed it's difficult to make portraits look good when they're centered and facing directly forward. He looks correctly proportioned, but if he was a little off-center, it would work a little better. I'd also say to add a light source so we can tell why his face is light against a dark background.
Oh and btw, some skies are that bright. Kind of looks like an Aurora in the background. Can't go wrong with that (seriously, I love the sky.
